There’s no doubt that golf is at the heart of Gullane, yet the village and the surrounding area offers much, much more. The best place to explore is surely the tremendous beach. Undoubtedly one of the best beaches in Scotland, the north and west facing Gullane Bay, backed by dunes, sweeps round from Gullane Point to Black Rocks providing breathtaking scenery and fantastic windsurfing. Longer walks are available, with the stunning John Muir Way coastal walk passing through Gullane (and its amazing views of the Firth of Forth) as it winds up the coast.
The blue flag sandy beach is a gentle ten minute walk from The Laurus House, and is reached by crossing the high street. If you plan to be loaded up with picnic and beach activity gear, a large car park is less than a five minute drive.
The high street is home to an excellent selection of shops, from gift boutiques, coffee shops and delis, to the more functional hairdressers, post office, pharmacy and supermarket.
